I believe Volusia County might be one of the five counties mentioned in your article. I am a member of one of the Chartered County Clubs which recently left the Volusia County REC and joined the Republican Assembly. It pains me to see this happen as we certainly need a strong Republican Party in Florida but we had lost faith in the leadership of the RPOF and VCREC. Perhaps our Governor can offer up a solution.

Good article by Jeff Dow. To know the truth of how FL can be a Red conservative state, and still have a squishy legislature, is to know the voting record of past House Leader Chris Sprowls. His goals seemed to be to impede conservative policies whenever possible, even if promoted by our popular conservative Gov DeSantis (ie Redistricting maps).

I applaud Ron for his achievements (1) in personally redrawing Florida's Congressional Districts when the feckless State GOP legislators balked and (2) in personally keeping Florida free from the CDC / Federal Covid overreach and (3) in personally protecting our innocent children from Disney and the Teachers' Unions.

But, as the titular Head of the RPOF, Governor Ron DeSantis bears full responsibility for the policies and actions of Joe Gruters and all the other Uniparty Elitists, who fight to maintain the status quo and to serve their corporate overlords. Moreover, Ron is personally responsible for protecting the Constitutional rights of Floridians, including the protection of civil liberties such as voter integrity. DeSantis has put his personal ambitions for POTUS above the welfare of the citizens he has sworn to protect; and because of his pride and lust for power, he risks his eternal soul for an ephemeral goal.

Great job! My favorite part of this article is the end.

I am not talking about unity - unity would demand that America First Republicans compromise with the Establishment - the Establishment that would love to continue shoving “moderate” Republican candidates down our throats.

In Manatee County, we're experiencing the hold on new members. We may be one of the five you're referring to. It's obvious to me they don't want America First people joining because they are afraid the establishment will get voted out. So instead, they would rather divide and destroy the party.

When I moved here to Florida I had NO IDEA it was run by CORRUPT SWAMP CREATURES. St John’s County is OWNED by CORRUPT REPUBLICANS, who continually hurt the PEOPLE. We will not stop until this is CORRECTED.

Hot fire Jeff. It may be hurtful to some but it needed to be said.

I agree we need leadership that has a proven record of AF values. Unity is for RINOs at this point in the game. We know what the establishment wants, and that is to maintain the status quo. We just can't let that happen given what's at stake.

It is OUR time to take the reigns and lead this horse (HREC) in the correct direction ONCE AND FOR ALL!

I agree that we need new leadership in Hillsborough County. We need a leader strong enough to stand up against the RPOF and our vicious, angry, grievance-ridden state committeewoman and her merry. band of Rino's. If our leader can do this, we will definitely have her back!!

"Dear Ron, why do you allow Drop Boxes in Florida?.... why do you allow unrestricted mail-in balloting in Florida?..... and, dagnabit!!! why do you permit the use of corrupt voting machines in Florida? Perhaps you've taken a lesson from the Dem's, and you want to skew the 2024 vote for your Presidential bid????"

In Putnam County we have America First conservative officers under attack by establishment Republicans. Our October meeting was closed so the Chair, who lost his primary bid for County Commissioner, could read a 2 page grievance letter submitted to the RPOF by the Republican Club President. The horrible thing the Chair did? In a thoughtless moment he let a Democrat candidate have the lumber used for his campaign signs (because she asked for them). He apologized profusely for the mistake, but now a simple mistake has snowballed into a 2 page divisive tirade right before the general election.

As a new member of the Putnam REC (but 50 year Republican) I've been studying the Republican Party documents to try to understand how it's supposed to work as opposed to how it doesn't work. We forget the the Republican Party operates on republican principles: we don't elect leaders, we elect representatives who bring our collective desires up to the next level. But representatives can't do that if we don't have a clear collective message. EVERY county REC must vote on a mission statement, one chosen from our Party Platform--that document being a summary of the collective will of 3,000+ U.S. county RECs.

I identified 64 "we support/oppose" issue statements in that document to choose from (https://putnamrepublicans.org/survey/). My favorite is "We reaffirm the Constitution’s fundamental principles: limited government, separation of powers, individual liberty, and the rule of law...", which turned into an action statement is "We will reduce the power, size, and cost of government at every level using every elected office". I hope every Republican can agree on that mission statement; if not, go to your SOE website and change your party affiliation ASAP.
