Who Is Ready to Rumble?

We live in exhausting times. Every day brings a new battle, but today I’m writing to tell you about one we can win.

It’s the “appropriations fight.” This is where Congress decides how much of your money will be earmarked for Federal Agencies. McCarthy has already starting hustling with Schumer to make a deal to keep the bloated, abusive government in place. That’s right, the Republican Speaker is negotiating with Democrats rather than collaborating with Republicans in his own Party.

Congress is gearing up for a fight, with Republicans in the House Freedom Caucus ready to shut down government if necessary. But if Establishment Republicans would support the House Freedom Caucus, Republicans could win.

Let’s see how …

THE SITUATION

• The Department of Homeland Security uses our tax dollars but won’t secure the border.

• The Department of Defense uses our tax dollars but pays for trans-surgery and DEI classes rather than for real-world preparedness.

• The Department of Justice uses are tax dollars to MOCK Justice. You’ve seen how they treat parents, how they’ve attacked states trying to protect children, and their absolute abuse of those who were in DC on January 6.

Yes, Biden is a problem. But we have a bigger immediate problem: the Administrative State. The Fourth Branch of Government: the Federal Bureaucrats who are anonymously embedded in our Federal Agencies. Congress must stop giving our money to the federal bureaucracies that are weakening our security and poisoning our culture. 

THE LEVERAGE POINTS

The Center for Renewing America and the Citizens for Renewing America support the House Freedom Caucus and their commitment to use leverage points to reign in abusive government:

• Use the “power of the purse” to:

  • Secure the Border

  • Defund Woke and Weaponized agencies

  • End the Woke Policies Undermining the Military

• Use the Holman Rule to remove bureaucrats, programs, and departments

• Motion to Vacate the Chair: Congress can remove McCarthy and vote in a Speaker willing to fight for the interests of Americans

THE EXCUSES

• Republicans will insist we can’t make drastic changes to the budget and will push a Continuing Resolution, which continues business as usual. Call your Member of Congress and say NO to a Continuing Resolution. Here’s why:

  • A short-term CR just kicks the can down the road until December—at which time, Republicans will surrender so they can get home to their family for Christmas. The time to fight is now, not in December. A long-term CR is just as bad, funding a bloated government through 2024 and leaving this Congress relatively powerless.

  • This appropriations fight is the last leverage point House Republicans have before the election. And honestly, we don’t know if America has that long if we continue business as usual.

• Another excuse you’ll hear about why we shouldn’t pick up this fight to defund our Agencies is that if we don’t have a CR by the budget deadline of 9/30, the government will shut down. 

  • Well then, get to work! Congress has been on vacation for a month. A shutdown is not the end of the world. 

• Another excuse: If the government shuts down, we won't be able to move forward with oversight hearings and articles of impeachment for Biden. 

  • This is a fear tactic. Committees can still operate. Impeachment needs to happen, but NOT at the expense of losing the leverage of the budget. Don’t barter our security for an impeachment that will stall in the Senate.

• You’ll also hear Republicans claim that whatever the House passes will be dead in the Senate.

  • There's some truth to this on regular bills and with the impeachment. But with the budget appropriations bills, we have leverage, because Democrats want to keep the bureaucracy funded.

If we have no security from the Federal Agencies, there should be no funding of the Federal Agencies.

CALL TO ACTION

Contact your Member of Congress armed with these facts. Tell Congress you support the position of the House Freedom Caucus: No Security. No Funding. The members of the House Freedom Caucus need to hear you support their fight and those outside the Caucus, including your own Member, need to hear from hundreds of people in your district telling them to support the goals of the House Freedom Caucus.

Let them know you want them to fight. You want them to secure our border and our liberties. And you’re willing to shut down government if we need to.
